Stunted creatively in my creative 9-6pm (and then some) role, I decided it was time to start exploring outside of the office and my normal mediums. I craved the challenge of learning through experimentation and had this desire to use my hands again. That was after all, what had lured me into the world of design in the first place. After years of sitting behind a computer at a desk for hours on end, I'd forgotten the sheer joy of actually making things... tangible things that you can play around with and shape as you go. Inspired by a fellow coworker that had decided to take a passion of her's one step further, I eagerly followed in pursuit and started signing up for all kinds of workshops and classes. I'm talking her shibori indigo dye workshop, ukulele lessons because a guitar seemed too big, a weaving class taught by my instagram girl crush weaver extraordinar and so on. And man oh man, did that tap into my soul and wake something deep within me that had dozed off without me realizing it. I didn't know it then but, that was the beginning of something very special.
If you're interested, you can read more about the specifics that re-sparked the creator within me here and here on my personal blog. I am so grateful for all the people that have helped inspire and encourage me along this crazy adventure of mine and I'm finally starting to feel like a designer again!
